Job Summary:

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Commissioning Engineer to join our team. As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for performing final testing, startup, and commissioning of electrical, mechanical, industrial controls, SCADA, and building automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate MEP Systems commissioning, inspection, and testing deliverables and documents, including schedules.
  • Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues.
  • Use available commissioning tools for efficient execution of project deliverables.
  • Participate in technical meetings with customers and engineering functional staff.
  • Assist in constructability reviews.
  • Oversee execution of MEP Systems commissioning inspection/testing activities on site.
  • Work with MEP Systems and associated electronic relays and other system components (SCADA, PLC) via manufacturer-specific computer software.
  • Understand MEP system commissioning, inspection, and testing requirements.
  • Understand commissioning terminology.
  • Basic understanding of industry codes and standards.
  • Understand basic cost and schedule considerations.
  • Familiar with the application of electrical equipment.
  • Credible automation knowledge.
  • Familiar with the mechanical, electrical, automation engineering website and how to find department guides and standards.
  • Basic understanding of how CADD tools are to be used.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Assist more experienced Commissioning specialists in coordinating and reviewing deliverables.
  • Prepare and review simple electrical and mechanical sketches, CX plans, and data sheets.
  • Perform simple routine electrical or mechanical calculations.
  • Assist in reviewing supplier documentation for compliance with specifications.
  • Use the electrical engineering website to access department guides and standards.
  • Basic knowledge of commissioning, inspection, and testing of electrical components and systems.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical engineering theories.
  • Basic power system familiarity with MEP systems and associated technologies, test equipment, etc.
  • Proficient with technical writing.
  • Knowledge of advanced mathematics.
  • Basic awareness of industry codes and standards.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Will to travel to customer sites periodically.

Requirements:

5+ years of experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related degree.

  • MS Office Suite of products.
  • MS Windows.
  • SharePoint.
  • AutoCAD.
  • Adobe Acrobat.
  • Infralink.
  • Revit.
  • Basic Primavera (P6).
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Strong MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT/FE).
  • Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED).
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
  • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) or equivalent.

Abilities:

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
