Position Overview

The State of Vermont is in search of a collaborative and detail-oriented individual with exceptional customer service, interpersonal, financial, and administrative capabilities for a key role within the Central Office. This position will be integral to a team that provides assistance to approximately 20 Central Office staff members as well as field operations. The Central Office is a dynamic environment that supports twelve district offices, manages programs, oversees grants and contracts, develops new initiatives, maintains the Division budget, and administers the State HireAbility website.

The ideal candidate must adeptly manage multiple priorities and execute complex tasks related to state and federal programs. Responsibilities will include processing invoices for participant service contracts, which involves significant data entry, monthly correspondence, and various financial operations. A self-starter with strong computer and technical skills is essential. Individuals with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

This role, Administrative Support Specialist II - Temporary, is open to all State employees and external candidates. This is a temporary position, typically involving variable hours, and is not guaranteed to be full-time. The State does not assure 40 hours of work per week.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.

OR

One year of full-time college-level study in accounting, business or public administration, office administration, or a related field AND two (2) years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.

OR

Two years of full-time college-level study OR an associate's degree or higher in accounting, business or public administration, office administration, or a related field AND one (1) year or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.

OR

Three years or more of full-time college-level study OR a bachelor's degree in accounting, business or public administration, office administration, or a related field.

OR

One (1) year or more of experience as an Administrative Services Coordinator I with the State of Vermont.

NOTE: Only administrative work experience is qualifying. Administrative support includes functions that maintain organizational operations or provide resources for others to execute programmatic work (e.g., accounting, budget management, grant administration, finance, human resources, payroll, purchasing, or space management).

Special Requirements

For certain positions, experience with the VISION system, the State of Vermont's PeopleSoft financial management system, may be required.
