Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Senior Orthopedic Nurse Specialist. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide direct patient care to patients who have undergone major joint replacement or spine surgical procedures.

You will assess patient conditions during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status. You will perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, ensuring thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record.

You will administer prescribed medications, monitor patients for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.

You will educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred)
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License
  • 1 year of medical surgical experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification
