Cornell University is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Designer for Structural Engineering to join our team. As a key member of our Facilities and Campus Services division, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality design services for university-wide construction and renovation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop structural engineering solutions for various projects, including building structures, site utilities, bridges, and parking structures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Architecture and Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Environmental and Energy Engineering, to deliver comprehensive design services.
  • Prepare CAD/BIM drawings and assist with composing studies and reports.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to design managers during construction.
  • Participate in construction site visits and perform site inspections as required.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in construction technology, architecture, engineering, or related field, plus two years' minimum relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Two or more years of experience in multi-discipline design and construction.
  • Technical knowledge of design and construction industries.
  • Proficiency with a variety of business and engineering design computer software.
