Job Summary

Cornell University is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team as a Research Support Specialist II. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and contribute to the development of innovative electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electronic hardware and systems for various departments within the CLASSE organization
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers and technicians to design, produce, and maintain electronic control and power systems
  • Work on complex system trouble shooting and maintenance of existing accelerator electronic equipment
  • Oversee projects from concept to manufacture to installation, ensuring timely and efficient completion
  • Participate in the development of new technologies and techniques to improve electronic system design and performance
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in designing and implementing state-of-the-art electronic systems
  • Strong knowledge of digital and analog electronics design, low-level FPGA programming, and simulations
  • Experience with printed circuit board design and layout, as well as electronic test equipment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with high-performance microprocessor design and large switch mode ac to dc and dc to dc power converter systems
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems, as well as EPICS control systems
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and thermal management, including the use of Inventor, AutoCAD, or other software design tool packages
