Overview
Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking is seeking a Credit Risk Officer (Executive Director) specializing in commercial real estate lending. This role is vital to the second line of defense at Natixis, focusing on the evaluation and credit analysis of the Bank's commercial real estate lending portfolio. The Credit Risk department operates as an independent risk oversight entity.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess credit risk transactions proposed by the business unit, providing constructive challenge and recommendations to the Credit Committee for approval or denial.
- Engage with business unit contacts to foster strong relationships, ensuring timely responses and prioritization of requests for onboarding new counterparties.
- Oversee and manage the existing portfolio of commercial real estate transactions, preparing analytical reports and presentations while staying informed on industry trends and macroeconomic factors that may influence the portfolio.
- Deliver presentations to Senior Credit Risk management, the Credit Committee, and other internal stakeholders.
- Ensure comprehensive ownership of the firm's credit processes, policies, procedures, controls, and reporting, including compliance with delegation authorities and lending policies.
- Conduct thorough credit analysis and risk assessments, particularly focusing on Sponsor counterparties.
- Participate actively in the management of the Credit Risk group, sharing insights and contributing to the overall risk culture at Natixis.
- Involve in the development and periodic review of policies and limit frameworks, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
- Propose risk mitigation strategies on both individual counterparty and portfolio levels as necessary.
- Familiarity with loan workouts and special servicing is advantageous.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; a graduate degree is preferred.
- 10-15 years of prior credit experience, particularly in commercial real estate lending.
- Extensive experience as a Credit Risk Officer with a solid understanding of credit risk, regulatory metrics, and mitigation techniques.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to establish credibility with senior management and deal team executives.
- Proficient in internal credit rating models and methodologies, along with credit risk monitoring systems.
- Strong technical, analytical, and quantitative skills for performing credit analysis. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and database management is essential; familiarity with Argus or equivalent software is a plus.
