Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team at TranSystems. As a key member of our transportation engineering group, you will be responsible for managing the design of transportation projects on the Illinois Tollway system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the design of transportation projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with multiple design teams and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews and analysis of contract documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Oversee communication between design and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Monitor and track project schedules, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Develop and implement contract packaging strategies to optimize project delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate with environmental management, permits, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and minimize project risks.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance project quality and value.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., mechanical, civil, structural, electrical) required.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in transportation engineering and project management.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the state of Illinois or ability to acquire licensure within 6 months.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and engineering software systems (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation/GeoPak, In Roads, Land Desktop, Civil 3D).
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in preparing plans, specifications, and estimates for transportation projects.
  • Knowledge of transportation engineering software and systems.
  • Experience with contract administration and project management.
Work Environment

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
