Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the design of transportation projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Coordinate with multiple entities on concurrent transportation design projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews and analysis of contract documents to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Oversee communication between design and construction teams, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Monitor and track schedules, budgets, and performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement contract packaging strategies to optimize project delivery.
  • Coordinate with environmental management, permits, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
  • Manage unbundling of construction contracts to promote small business and diversity.
  • Perform quality assurance for structural components, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Compile and present lessons learned from projects to improve future work.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g. mechanical, civil, structural, electrical).
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in design and management of transportation engineering projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Illinois or ability to acquire licensure within 6 months.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and engineering software systems (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation/GeoPak, In Roads, Land Desktop, Civil 3D).
  • Ability to engage multiple perspectives when solving problems and encourage reciprocal learning among team members.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in preparing plans, specifications, and estimates for the Illinois Tollway or IDOT.
