Position Overview

Summary:

In collaboration with a licensed psychologist, the Behavioral Assessment Specialist is responsible for conducting and facilitating psychological and educational evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engages with parents/caregivers and children to gather information during the evaluation process.
  • Creates a tailored assessment strategy that addresses the unique needs of each child.
  • Administers, evaluates, and interprets psychological assessments, focusing on cognitive abilities, academic performance, and behavioral patterns.
  • Drafts detailed, comprehensive evaluation reports that include recommendations based on assessment findings.
  • Conducts follow-up discussions with clients to ensure the successful application of recommendations.
  • Completes all necessary documentation as required by the program.
  • Exhibits teamwork and aligns with the mission and values of Jewish Family Services of St. Louis.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies and standards.

Qualifications

Education: A Master's Degree in psychology, counseling, education, or a related discipline, and/or an Educational Specialist Degree.

Experience: A minimum of three years of post-master's experience utilizing psychometric techniques, statistical analysis, and their applications in educational, behavioral, emotional, and developmental assessments. Proficiency in computer applications and testing software, as well as experience in psychological, educational, and developmental testing, including analysis and interpretation of results.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expertise in psychometric methods and statistical analysis as applied to psychological evaluation.
  • Training in the administration and interpretation of psychological assessments, including cognitive, academic, behavioral, and personality evaluations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

Professional licensure or certification in Missouri.
