About the Role

Smithfield Foods is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the position of Sanitation Lead Princeton. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the crew at our truck/trailer wash facilities, ensuring the safe and timely scheduling, washing, and disinfection of trucks and trailers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the washing and disinfection of live haul units, adhering to current bio-security procedures and turnaround times.
  • Manage scheduling changes with facilities and coordinate the number of washes for the next day.
  • Maintain properly trained personnel, adequate equipment, and facilities to ensure efficient operations.
  • Enforce compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the Injury Prevention System and all safety requirements of the job.
  • Ensure trailer cleanliness through training, inspection, and resolution of problems.
  • Ensure biosecurity with cross-traffic with live haul.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance of the truck wash/baker facility.
  • Coordinate scheduling with the transportation supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must have a current valid driver's license.
  • Experience in the swine industry is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Familiarity with computer use and information systems is essential.
  • Ability to work as a team player and develop and implement work plans that are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to follow bio-security procedures and safety procedures, and participate in the injury prevention system.
  • Ability to read and write English.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Ability to stoop, bend, and climb.
  • Ability to use a power washer and clean/sanitize trucks.
  • Ability to tolerate blood, animal dander, manure, dust, and odors.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Must be able to work under stress.
  • Must be able to tolerate hot and noisy conditions.
