Position Summary

We are looking for a meticulous and organized Staff Accountant to enhance our aerospace manufacturing operations. The Staff Accountant will be tasked with maintaining precise financial records, aiding in the creation of financial statements, and supporting the overall financial functions of the organization. This role demands a solid grasp of accounting principles, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and expense allocations.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial data is accurate and current.
  • Process vendor invoices, manage accounts payable, and ensure timely payment of obligations.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, process customer invoices, and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Assist with cost accounting activities, including inventory valuation, cost analysis, and variance reporting.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to understand cost drivers and contribute to cost control initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, providing data and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Monitor budget performance and report on variances to management.
  • Prepare documentation and schedules to support internal and external audits.
  • Assist with the implementation of audit recommendations and enhancements to internal controls.
  • Support the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
  • Assist with sales tax reporting and other regulatory filings.
  • Participate in special projects, process improvements, and system implementations as needed.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for ad-hoc requests from management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or aerospace setting.
  • Experience with ERP systems and cost accounting is advantageous.
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Primarily office-based with regular interaction with other departments.
  • Some overtime may be required during peak periods.
