Job Summary

The Kingsport Child Development Center seeks a highly motivated and dedicated Teacher Assistant to support our teaching staff in creating a nurturing and engaging environment for our young learners. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in implementing developmentally appropriate activities, promoting positive relationships with children and parents, and contributing to the overall quality of our educational program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Implementation: Assist in planning and implementing curricula activities that promote children's cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Classroom Support: Provide assistance to teachers in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment, and ensure the availability of necessary materials and resources.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Establish and maintain effective communication with parents through regular progress reports and informal discussions, and work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to achieve common goals.
  • Child Development and Care: Observe and document children's interests and progress, and provide support in promoting self-help skills, good hygiene, and a smooth transition from home to child care center.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in child development, education, and related fields.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience, with a strong understanding of child development principles and practices.
  • Skills and Qualities: High energy, ability to work well with others, strong oral and written communication skills, basic computer skills, and excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Certifications and Clearances: Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification, and a clear background check and health screening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Child Care Experience: Previous experience in a child care setting, preferably in a similar role.
  • Certifications and Education: CDA (Child Development Associate) credential, or a related degree in early childhood education or a related field.
