Job Summary

The Regional President is a key senior leadership role at WaFd Bank, responsible for driving the development and growth of high-quality loans and low-cost deposits within its respective geographical region. This role requires a strong understanding of financial products, services, and regulations, as well as exceptional leadership and team management skills.

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Regional President will consult and work closely with the Chief Commercial Banker and the Chief Consumer Banker to achieve the Bank's goals and initiatives.

The successful Regional President will:

  • Inspire trust and confidence in their team.
  • Lead by example.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee all banking activities within the region to maximize profitability while minimizing risk.
  • Have excellent business development and client retention skills.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through the delivery of excellent service across the region.
  • Understand the banking needs of small businesses and have strong relationships with the business community.
  • Be an excellent communicator, able to explain and build engagement.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the bank by participating in public events and community outreach.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Participate, encourage, and support skill advancement in others through coaching and mentoring.
  • Reflect the corporate values and ethics of WaFd Bank, including integrity, teamwork, ownership, simplicity, discipline, and service.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the development and growth of WaFd Bank in the Region, within established policies.
  2. Develop an annual strategic plan for the region.
  3. Engage in active client management.
  4. Develop and implement an active sales management program.
  5. Play an active role in the quality of the region's loan portfolio.
  6. Ensure the region meets the Bank's compliance standards.
  7. Provide leadership for the region.
  8. Actively involved in the community in a leadership capacity.
  9. Support and participate in the Bank's CRA efforts.
  10. Oversee the region's staffing needs.
  11. Manage regional expenses in alignment with Bank's strategic plan.
  12. Lead the marketing efforts in the region.
  13. Accountable to performance metrics for the region.
  14. Complete and pass all assigned eLearning courses.
  15. Avoid all real or perceived conflicts of interest.
  16. Perform other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter and production-oriented.
  • Strong understanding of financial products, services, and regulations.
  • Knowledgeable in lending practices.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage risk and ensure compliance.
