Job Summary

The Clinical Donation Specialist plays a vital role in facilitating the organ and tissue donation process. This position requires a strong understanding of medical procedures and the ability to work independently with families to provide support and education on organ and tissue donation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to hospitals in our service area to review referrals for medical suitability
  • Enter accurate data into the Electronic Medical Record System (EMR) while following best documentation practices
  • Collaborate with hospital staff to provide guidance, support, and education through the donation process
  • Manage the physiology of the donor to ensure maximum viability of the precious gift of life for transplantation
  • Allocate organs according to UNOS policies through the national system
  • Facilitate the organ recovery process in the Operating Room, including reviewing documentation according to regulatory agency guidelines
Requirements
  • RN with active license in good standing or a Bachelor's degree in biology or medical sciences required
  • Experience in trauma/critical care preferred or 1 year of related OPO experience and/or training in a health care/hospital setting preferred
  • Bilingual: Spanish preferred
