Job Summary:

The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist in Oncology plays a vital role in designing, implementing, and monitoring patient pharmacotherapy to ensure effective, safe, and economical patient care. As a member of the healthcare team, this specialist makes therapeutic decisions, selects drugs and drug products, and determines drug dosing. They also perform research to retrieve and evaluate the best pharmacotherapeutic information available in biomedical and pharmacoeconomic literature.

This specialist provides education and support to patients/caretakers and staff, and performs other job-related duties as requested. To be successful in this role, the Clinical Pharmacist Specialist in Oncology must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, with five to seven years of related experience preferred. They must also be a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island or eligible for state licensure. A residency or Board of Pharmacy Specialty certification is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and monitor patient pharmacotherapy to ensure effective, safe, and economical patient care.
  • Make therapeutic decisions, select drugs and drug products, and determine drug dosing.
  • Perform research to retrieve and evaluate the best pharmacotherapeutic information available in biomedical and pharmacoeconomic literature.
  • Provide education and support to patients/caretakers and staff.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Five to seven years of related experience preferred.
  • Registered Pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island or eligible for state licensure.
  • Residency or Board of Pharmacy Specialty certification highly desirable.
