Position Overview:

The Unit Manager must hold a valid certification as a Nursing Assistant and possess experience in long-term care settings. We are seeking a skilled CNA with leadership capabilities, excellent teamwork skills, and the ability to be flexible with on-call duties.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, organizing, and overseeing daily operations of the Nursing Department, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain the highest standards of quality care at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within two weeks of hire.
  • Knowledge or interest in therapy, rehabilitation, and restorative care practices.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English clearly.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with customers, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Personable, enthusiastic, and resourceful demeanor.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move throughout the work environment during the day.
  • Capacity to handle the mental and emotional demands of the role.
  • Must possess adequate sight and hearing, or use prosthetics to meet job requirements.
  • Must be in good health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals who may be ill, disabled, or emotionally distressed.
  • Capability to lift and move equipment and individuals weighing over fifty (50) pounds.
  • Exposure to infectious materials and conditions may occur.

Essential Duties:

  • Review and recommend updates to departmental policies and procedures annually.
  • Ensure compliance with established dress codes and departmental policies.
  • Assist in creating personalized care plans for each customer.
  • Participate in care plan conferences and family meetings as needed.
  • Address and report any concerns raised by customers or their families.
  • Conduct regular meetings with nursing staff to identify and resolve issues.
  • Assist in recruiting and selecting nursing staff with the Director of Nursing's approval.
  • Support the Director of Nursing in scheduling and assigning work duties.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and make daily rounds to monitor staff compliance with care standards.
  • Foster a warm and positive environment within the department.
  • Plan and participate in educational programs for staff development.
  • Maintain budgetary compliance when ordering supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinate nursing services with other departments to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks, including reports and evaluations.
  • Monitor staff attendance to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
  • Assist in organizing nursing units effectively.
  • Provide feedback to the Director of Nursing regarding nursing needs and service capabilities.
  • Assist with appointment scheduling and transportation arrangements as needed.
  • Ensure all care personnel are familiar with and adhere to care plans.
  • Attend relevant departmental meetings as directed.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
