Job Title: Principal Engineer Utilities

Are you a highly skilled and experienced engineer looking for a challenging role in utilities engineering? We are seeking a Principal Engineer Utilities to join our team at Pasco County, FL.

Job Summary:

The Principal Engineer Utilities will be responsible for managing and overseeing assigned projects, including scope development, consultant selection, construction, administration, commissioning, and warranty phases. This role will also involve performing troubleshooting and technical evaluations, serving as a resource for problem resolution, and representing the Department on matters related to public inquiries, contracts, construction, regulatory coordination, zoning entitlements, and capital projects planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee assigned projects, including scope development, consultant selection, construction, administration, commissioning, and warranty phases.
  • Perform troubleshooting and technical evaluations, serving as a resource for problem resolution.
  • Represent the Department on matters related to public inquiries, contracts, construction, regulatory coordination, zoning entitlements, and capital projects planning.
  • Provide general engineering support and act as a subject matter expert for highly complex projects.
  • Develop and track the utilities capital improvement program.
  • Interact and coordinate with state regulatory agencies and other County departments as required.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in project delivery for large public sector projects.
  • Three (3) years of managerial and/or supervisory experience.
  • Three (3) years of engineering experience as a Professional Engineer required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and/or other scheduling programs.
  • Must possess registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
