Job Title: Building Controls Engineer

Join JLL's team of skilled professionals as a Building Controls Engineer, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance of our power monitoring systems.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Building Controls Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering and facilities services team, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of our power monitoring systems within a specific region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement system integrated development to include OPC (DMZ), Power Management Expert, Johnson Metasys System, and SQL Database.
  • Provide Visio drawings of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections.
  • Manage Power Management Expert for NC Locations (Data Center, Administration, and Manufacturing Buildings) and MA, CA, UT, VA as necessary.
  • Communicate with Client teams to ensure high levels of satisfaction, meeting regularly to discuss operational problems and providing recommendations for system enhancements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Adhere to all JLL and Client safety standards, providing safety awareness on work sites.
  • Provide training for others on electronic control systems and software, including Power Management Expert, OPC (DMZ), and Device installation/wiring/configuration.
  • Support mechanical staff on non-complex, non-critical equipment.
  • Install, operate, troubleshoot, and verify functional performance of building automation and control systems.
  • Perform controls commissioning/verification for all power monitoring systems and controls, including alarm verification, prioritization, resource management, failover sequencing, and dashboard/GUI experience.
  • Inspect, calibrate, repair, and install a wide range of control, sensing, and actuating devices, including Modbus, OPC, BACNET, and SQL.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on energy management systems and equipment, including log files, metering accuracy, energy KWH reporting, and ISO 50K SEUs.
  • Respond to service calls to restore systems operation and control.
  • Provide recommendations on equipment/systems operation and modification for energy conservation, efficiency, and reliability.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent; 2-year degree, trade school education, union training, military service, or college is desirable.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience with various control systems, including Matrikon OPC, Power Management Expert, Johnson Metasys Systems, SQL Database, Carrier Comfort Network, relay logic, etc.
  • EcoStruxure Power Monitoring Expert (PME) exposure.
  • Metasys Building Automation System exposure.
  • Valid state driver's license to travel to client sites as needed.
  • Background, drug/alcohol, and MVR screening process before beginning employment.
  • Thorough understanding of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical control systems in commercial buildings.
  • Experience interpreting, modifying, and developing mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Proficient in programming and troubleshooting complex building automation systems.
  • Proficient in administering systems within a Windows Server environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and regulations related to building automation.
  • Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) &/or Building Management System (BMS).
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, and Outlook).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Niagara 4 - Technical Certification Program (TCP).
