About the Role:

Job Summary

A skilled clinician with prior specialty experience is preferred, with a focus on advancing knowledge and competencies. Consistently delivers effective direct care as part of an interdisciplinary team to a diverse range of complex patients. Actively seeks and provides feedback to enhance clinical practice. Assumes an initial clinical bedside leadership role and seeks mentorship in this journey. Serves as a professional member of the VOICE nursing shared governance, contributing insights on issues discussed in meetings. Engages as a member of VOICE councils and Nursing Quality Teams as appropriate. Actively collaborates with other care team members to recruit and retain a high-quality nursing staff. For new graduate clinical RNs: primarily focuses on developing skills and demonstrating growth in the ability to care for increasingly complex patients. Responsible for delivering direct and safe patient care based on the nursing process and coordinating care for assigned patients during a shift to promote optimal clinical outcomes. Requires consultation with more experienced clinicians and embraces feedback as a constructive tool for professional development.



Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia
  • Educational Requirements: Associates Degree
  • Minimum Experience: Three years of experience in Critical Care. Emergency Department experience will be considered.
  • Other: National certification in clinical specialty (or within 6 months of hire)

  • Preferred Licensure or other certifications: National certification in clinical specialty
  • Preferred Educational Requirements: Bachelor of Nursing Degree
  • Preferred Experience: Five years of experience in Critical Care. Emergency Department experience will be considered.

  • Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with Administrative Nursing Supervisor, critical care staff, and physicians to ensure the safest environment for patients.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Clinical Skills and Knowledge: Exhibits basic assessment skills. Demonstrates the six rights of medication administration. Manages care for basic patient assignments and progresses to care for increasingly complex patients. Accurately documents all aspects of the nursing process using the electronic medical record as applicable. Understands and adheres to all DNV standards. Accesses and follows policies. Evaluates patient responses to interventions and adjusts care plans as necessary. Consistently coordinates interdisciplinary care. Utilizes resources effectively to minimize waste. Participates in performance improvement processes. Engages in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure compliance with DNV regulations. Coordinates discharge planning. Actively contributes to a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Interpersonal Skills and Relationships: Involves the patient and family in care. Provides effective education tailored to the learning needs of patients and families. Demonstrates appropriate customer service behaviors. Participates in organizational and unit-based customer service initiatives.
  • Critical Thinking Skills and Innovation: Plans patient care based on assessments. Displays basic prioritization and time management skills. Evaluates patient responses to interventions and seeks support to modify care plans. Utilizes resources on the unit to enhance understanding of unfamiliar patient populations. Recognizes signs of patient deterioration and accesses appropriate resources. Engages with nursing research and evidence-based practice articles. Participates in discharge planning with increasing responsibility and coordination. Demonstrates the ability to swiftly recognize and anticipate changes in patient status and takes appropriate action while maintaining professional composure. Recognizes trends in nursing practice and questions care as it relates to evidence-based practice. Consistently prioritizes patient care independently.
  • Leadership and Professional Development: Supports unit goals. Demonstrates commitment to shared governance through awareness of initiatives. Completes a professional development plan and shows progress on personal learning objectives. Supervises and ensures the completion of tasks assigned to ancillary/support staff. Participates in the advancement of the nursing profession and community support. Appropriately delegates tasks. Seeks resources by actively consulting with the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrates support of shared governance through awareness of initiatives and by providing input. Serves in unit leadership roles as necessary. Serves as the Nurse in Charge as needed, fulfilling responsibilities such as patient flow, matching resources to patients for shifts, and escalating concerns through the chain of command.
