Job Summary

Epsilon Systems is seeking a highly skilled Subsafe Outside Machinist III to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for repairing, modifying, and overhauling various types of SUBSAFE equipment or systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report directly to the Production Manager and work closely with project Foremen to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Adhere to strict safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn and properly maintained.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and safety in all work performed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on SUBSAFE equipment and systems.
  • Assist in the setup and operation of portable machining tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other trades to complete installation, modification, or repair operations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues to provide cost-effective solutions.
  • Verify mechanical alignments and perform level-1 material controls.
  • Install, repair, overhaul, or modify mechanical systems and components.
  • Assist with on-site field service for system grooms and checkouts.
  • Prepare and install equipment or system alterations.
  • Assist in rigging operations when necessary.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with additional vocational courses or technical school training preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in marine mechanical systems, with SUBSAFE experience required.
  • Knowledge of trade qualifications and ability to perform as a level III Outside Machinist.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
  • Experience in disassembly, repair, installation, testing, and inspection of ship machinery.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments and accurately record readings and measurements.
  • Knowledge of rigging equipment and ability to identify damaged or worn equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work independently or in a group.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain National Security Clearance Level Secret.
  • Ability to travel and access military and government installations worldwide.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current security clearance.
Work Environment
  • Requires walking, reaching, sitting, and concentration in the presence of occasional noise.
  • Able to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms.
  • Able to lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight.
  • Must have manual and finger dexterity; able to grasp, manipulate, assemble small objects.
  • Able to perceive and distinguish normal range of colors.
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
