Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team at the City and County of San Francisco. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will be responsible for conducting professional-level work in clinical psychology, including psychodiagnostic examinations and psychotherapy of individuals with emotional disturbance, mental illness, substance use disorders, and developmental delays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct clinical evaluations of children and adults, providing individual and group psychotherapy and counseling to children and adults.
  • Prepare clinical psychological reports presenting diagnostic findings, interview findings, assessments, recommendations for treatment and rehabilitation, treatment delivery, client progress, and outcome.
  • Select, administer, score, and interpret appropriate psychological tests of intelligence, personality, aptitude, achievement, interest, and other specialized areas.
  • Conduct diagnostic clinical interviews with children and adults suffering from emotional disturbance, mental illness, substance use disorders, and developmental delays to assess their conditions and assist them in achieving their recovery goals.
  • Participate in psychological research and provide education, consultation, and information to community groups on child and adult adjustment challenges, mental illness, substance use disorders, culturally relevant services, and other topics.
  • Supervise psychology interns and subordinate clinical staff, conduct staff training programs, and participate in the planning, development, and execution of psychology training internships and postdoctoral traineeships.
Requirements
  • Possession of a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology.
  • Applicants possessing a valid license as a Psychologist issued from another state within the United States of America may apply, but if selected, the candidate will not be appointed/hired until they obtain a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology.
  • Some positions may require applicants to meet additional requirements, such as six months of post-graduate level psychological testing and reporting experience, twelve months of clinical experience with children, or bilingual fluency in a variety of languages.
Selection Procedures

The selection process will consist of a Training and Experience Examination, which will measure knowledge, skills, and/or abilities in job-related areas, such as knowledge of principles of clinical psychology, psychometry, and personality, knowledge of psychotherapeutic methods applicable to children and adults with emotional disturbance, mental illness, and substance use disorders, and ability to effectively carry out evidence-based practices, standardized methods, procedures, and techniques of clinical psychology.
