Your Responsibilities

  • Encourage team involvement in risk mitigation efforts.
  • Design processes and systems that empower shift leaders to excel.
  • Mentor, supervise, and develop both hourly and salaried staff, applying our core values and operational excellence tools to enhance skills and performance.
  • Ensure alignment of individual roles and responsibilities with plant and organizational objectives to maximize long-term value.
  • Hold teams and individuals accountable for operational strategies.
  • Create a knowledge-sharing environment among team members.
  • Lead the development and execution of performance and skills enhancement initiatives.
  • Support the onboarding process for new hourly employees in the department.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and other team members to identify and address performance deficiencies.
  • Work alongside Production Supervisors and Business Capabilities to ensure operator and technician performance gaps are recognized and addressed.
  • Manage scheduling exceptions for hourly staff.
  • Address personnel matters within a unionized environment.
  • Challenge existing practices to promote continuous improvement.
  • Utilize strong communication skills to engage with facility teams, leadership, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Be prepared to work various shifts as necessary, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, and be available on call.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
  • Experience in a continuous process manufacturing environment.
  • Background in financial analysis related to production costs.
  • Understanding of reliability concepts.
  • Minimum of three years in a supervisory position with multiple direct reports.
  • Proven track record in promoting and leading a safe working environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
What Will Set You Apart
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field.
  • At least five years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, including coaching and performance evaluations.
  • Experience in enforcing safety protocols, including Lock Out/Tag Out and machine safety.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Experience in labor relations.
  • Familiarity with Ownership Based Work Systems.
  • Five or more years of experience in gypsum wallboard production.
