We are currently seeking a dedicated Respiratory Care Specialist to join our esteemed team at Nuvance Health. This full-time role requires a commitment of 36 hours per week, with opportunities to work evening and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
As a vital member of our respiratory care team, you will:
1. Oversee the Ventilator and Rounding protocols, collaborating with medical staff to evaluate patients' cardiopulmonary conditions.
2. Assess and treat patients experiencing hypoxia or bronchospasm using appropriate modalities such as oxygen and bronchodilators.
3. Conduct arterial blood gas analyses and provide recommendations for therapy adjustments.
4. Implement non-invasive ventilation techniques (BIPAP/CPAP) for patients.
5. Manage ventilator support for neonates and surgical patients.
6. Educate patients about their conditions and necessary home care changes to minimize readmission risks.
7. Respond to emergency situations, including trauma alerts and code responses, ensuring patient stabilization.
8. Document patient interactions and care provided in accordance with departmental standards.
9. Participate in mandatory training and departmental meetings.
10. Assist in the onboarding and training of new staff members.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- An Associate's degree in a relevant field.
- Registration as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and certification in CPR for Healthcare Providers.
- Advanced skills in ventilator management for both adult and neonatal intensive care.
Work Environment:
This position requires significant manual dexterity and the ability to handle physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs. Candidates should be prepared for exposure to various environmental factors.
