Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled individual to join our team as a Cost Accountant. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of two years of experience in job cost accounting, along with a solid foundation in general accounting principles. This position entails involvement in various accounting functions, including the preparation of financial reports, analysis, budgeting, and maintenance of the general ledger.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and refine procedures for reporting job costing profitability and managing monthly accounting for all construction and tenant improvement projects.
  • Oversee, plan, and execute the monthly and year-end reconciliation and closing processes.
  • Manage all facets of construction invoicing, including coding, processing worksheets, and maintaining the chart of accounts.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets and financial statements.
  • Conduct thorough monthly reviews of job cost activities to ensure accurate and consistent coding across projects.
  • Ensure timely closure of jobs and completion of projects.
  • Process and secure approvals for contractor and subcontractor payment requests, material invoices, ad-hoc field expenses, and change order actions, collaborating with the accounting team as necessary.
  • Assist in the creation of contract abstracts.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required; an MBA or CPA designation is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in Construction and Accounting is necessary.
  • Familiarity with Yardi Voyager is highly desirable.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with effective interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across various departments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
