Our suppliers must deliver exceptional quality while adapting to rapidly changing designs and increasing production volumes. We seek candidates with extensive expertise in New Product Introduction (NPI) manufacturing and quality assurance tools, driven by a relentless commitment to supplier success.

This role is technical in nature and necessitates hands-on experience with the materials, processes, and components utilized in mechanical, electrical, and/or electro-mechanical assemblies for aerospace applications. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of these products and a willingness to tackle new challenges in unfamiliar domains to support our mission to Mars.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives at supplier locations.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison for the supply chain, addressing urgent challenges at suppliers and mitigating risks to the manufacturing system by resolving significant manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) assessments to ensure optimal manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to industrialize new materials and processes, implementing necessary capital improvements and enhancing their capabilities to scale these technologies, including part qualification (PPAP).
  • Work alongside Design, Quality, Manufacturing, and Certification teams to establish ideal performance specifications and supplier metrics.
  • Validate supplier corrective actions related to design and process modifications to ensure robustness, sustainability, and applicability across manufacturing lines and suppliers.
  • Oversee containment activities, collaborating with cross-functional teams on scope, resolution strategies, and final outcomes.
  • Exhibit innovation, technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, self-motivation, and courage.
  • Strive for results and customer satisfaction by working collaboratively with teams, leading projects, and driving continuous improvement within the supply base.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers; conduct surveillance and diagnostic audits on existing suppliers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related STEM field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in manufacturing, mechanical, supply chain, or business project roles (including academic projects, clubs, or internships).

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven ability to make timely, risk-based decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Background in electrical engineering.
  • Master's degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or materials engineering.
  • Familiarity with quality systems (ISO 9000/TS/AS9100/NADCAP).
  • Understanding of quality processes, including production part approval process (PPAP), advanced product quality planning (APQP), first article inspection reports (FAIR), and metrology tools and concepts.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes with a demonstrated history of implementing new production lines and process enhancements.
  • Experience with quality tools such as Lean principles, measurement systems analysis, design of experiments, statistical process control, root cause analysis, and process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA).
  • Strong communication skills, capable of presenting to suppliers, team members, and management, and directing supplier activities at the management level.
  • Ability to think creatively and solve complex problems independently or as part of a team.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, iterative design environment within consumer electronics, mobile devices, medical devices, marine, aerospace, or automotive sectors.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as needed to meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to travel 25-40% of the time, potentially on short notice; a valid driver's license is required.
