Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Mid Michigan Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Triage patient calls and schedule urgent/emergent add-ons
  • Support and direct patients for consults and/or testing, and insurance pre-certification and documentation
  • Perform routine pre-examination procedures, including vital signs, and assess and record objective and subjective data concerning presenting conditions
  • Update and maintain accurate patient records, including orders reconciliation, secure messaging, and other tasks as assigned
  • Assist providers with examinations and procedures
  • Prepare and clean patient areas, set up equipment, and dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire or transfer
  • Medical Assistant (MA) certification or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a physician clinic setting
  • Knowledge of medical office policies, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a clinical setting, including exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials. The employee must follow MyMichigan Health's blood-borne pathogen and TB testing protocols.

The physical demands of this position include frequent standing, walking, and postural changes. The employee must be able to lift or carry up to 20 pounds and push/pull arm/leg controls.
