We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Memorial Hermann Health System. This is a part-time Clinical Lab Scientist position, responsible for performing various laboratory tests/procedures as assigned.
About the RoleThis role involves managing and performing daily lab operations, including collections, sample processing, results reporting/distribution, personnel direction (as appropriate), and clerical duties to maintain efficient workflow. The successful candidate will also interact with hospital personnel, volunteers, physicians, and patients regarding specimens and orders coming into the Laboratory and/or reporting results out.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and document test results, quality control, maintenance procedures, and associated corrective actions according to policy/procedure.
- Manage/perform other aspects of daily lab operations, including collections, sample processing, results reporting/distribution, personnel direction (as appropriate), and clerical duties to maintain efficient workflow.
- Interact with hospital personnel, volunteers, physicians, and patients regarding specimens and orders coming into the Laboratory and/or reporting results out.
- Comply with policies, procedures, and initiatives of Laboratory Services, the hospital, and the system; understand, communicate, and comply with standards and conditions set forth by various governmental and accrediting agencies.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Bachelor's degree in biological science (equivalency required for foreign education).
- Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Technologist (AMT) certification.
- Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International) or Certified CLS (ASCP) certification.
The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 per year, based on industry standards and market research.
