Job Summary

The City of Lubbock is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Airport Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of the airport. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of aviation regulations and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage airport operations staff, including security personnel, maintenance workers, and administrative assistants.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient airport operations.
  • Manage and coordinate airport maintenance and construction projects.
  • Develop and manage the airport's operating budget.
  • Provide training and guidance to airport staff on aviation regulations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with other airport departments and external agencies to ensure smooth airport operations.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents, including security breaches and aircraft accidents.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in aviation management, airport management, aeronautical science, or a related field.
  • At least one to three years of experience in aviation operations or administration.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a TCOLE telecommunications license.
  • Ability to pass a federal security background investigation and obtain airport security identification and access control media.
  • Ability to pass a TSA security threat assessment.
  • Ability to obtain Airport Security Coordinator certification within three months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Designation as an Airport Certified Employee (ACE) in Airfield Operations.
  • Certified Member (CM) status through the American Association of Airport Executives.
