Nuclear Power Plant Systems Engineer - Mechanical Design

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Power Plant Systems Engineer - Mechanical Design to join our team at Sargent & Lundy. As a key member of our Mechanical Engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for nuclear power plants.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing mechanical systems for nuclear power plants, including hydraulic, heat transfer, and heat balance analyses.
  • Preparing and reviewing modification packages for operating nuclear power plants.
  • Creating functional mechanical drawings and/or drawings for nuclear power plant systems.
  • Developing technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment.
  • Evaluating vendor bids for plant equipment.
  • Conducting studies and options evaluations for modifications to operating nuclear power plants.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client-requested work scopes.
  • Visit client office and/or plant site locations to interface with the client and make presentations related to engineering tasks and status.
  • Lead engineering project teams.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in mechanical engineering, preferably with experience in the power industry. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required. A minimum of 6 years of experience in the power industry is also required. Previous experience with power uprates and/or turbine-related systems is favorable. A PE license is beneficial but not required.
