Position Summary: The Housing Navigator plays a vital role in collaborating with families to provide essential assistance regarding housing issues. This includes negotiating with property owners, offering housing stabilization services, and educating families on sustainable housing practices, such as financial planning and understanding tenant rights and responsibilities. The Housing Navigator's primary goal is to empower families towards achieving self-sufficiency.
Qualifications:
- Expertise and skills necessary to effectively support parents or guardians with housing needs.
- Knowledge of the state housing system and local resources available.
- Experience working with families at risk of involvement with child mental health, child welfare, or juvenile justice systems is preferred.
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Fluency in both languages comes with an additional compensation of 6% above the base salary.
Physical Requirements: This position requires visits to residential and community locations; therefore, candidates should be able to:
- Travel to clients' homes, community areas, and office locations, which may involve navigating walkways, stairs, and/or elevators.
- Lift items weighing up to 20lbs.
- Communicate effectively and possess visual and auditory capabilities.
