Key Responsibilities- Program Leadership:
- Develop and implement a football program that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal development.
- Foster a positive team culture that encourages student-athletes to excel both on the field and in the classroom.
- Establish a supportive environment that promotes the physical and mental well-being of student-athletes.
- Coaching and Player Development:
- Plan, organize, and conduct effective practice sessions that teach fundamental skills, strategies, and techniques of football.
- Develop game plans and strategies for competition.
- Assess player skills and provide individual and team instruction to improve performance.
- Game Management:
- Lead the team during all games, including pre-game preparation, in-game decision-making, and post-game analysis.
- Coordinate logistics for home and away games, including transportation, equipment, and accommodations.
- Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations set forth by the school's athletic department and relevant athletic associations.
- Administrative Duties:
- Manage the football program budget, including purchasing equipment and uniforms, scheduling games and practices, and fundraising.
- Maintain accurate records of player eligibility, medical forms, and other required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with parents, school administrators, and the community about the football program.
- Staff Supervision:
- Recruit, hire, and supervise assistant coaches and other support staff.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for coaching staff.
- Ensure that all staff adhere to school policies and procedures, including those related to student-athlete safety and welfare.
- Community Engagement:
- Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for the school and its athletic program.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, youth leagues, and feeder schools to promote the football program.
- Engage in outreach activities that build support for the team and foster school spirit.
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
- In-depth knowledge of football rules, strategies, and techniques.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, parents, staff, and coaches.
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
- Valid coaching certification as required by the state or athletic association.
The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on student-athlete safety and well-being. The successful candidate will be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during the football season. Travel to away games and events is necessary.
