Position Overview:

As a Senior Instrumentation Engineer, you will be responsible for directing and managing the engineering and design activities related to instrumentation for various projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, coupled with a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience in the petrochemical, chemical, offshore, pipeline, or utility sectors; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that equips you to fulfill the essential functions of this role.

Licensure:
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License in accordance with state regulations.
  • Professional Engineer Intern status is preferred, with a focus on obtaining professional registration.
Essential Skills:
  • Capability to mentor junior engineers.
  • In-depth knowledge of instrumentation design principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software applications.
  • Familiarity with regulatory codes and standards relevant to the discipline.
  • Experience with discipline-specific software tools (e.g., ETAP, STAAD, CAESAR).
  • Understanding of key aspects of Civil, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Chemical Engineering.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to traverse industrial sites and construction areas, including walking up to one mile.
  • Capacity to work in protective gear that may increase body temperature for short durations.
  • Ability to navigate multi-level stair towers and ladders independently.
  • Capability to hear safety alarms while using hearing protection.
  • Proficiency in prolonged computer use while seated.
  • Ability to perform various physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 lbs. as required.
Client-Specific Responsibilities:

As a key contributor, you will provide expert technical guidance in instrumentation engineering, supporting both ongoing operations and new capital projects. Your role will include:
  • Offering authoritative expertise in industrial process plant instrumentation.
  • Leading forensic analyses and investigations related to instrumentation issues.
  • Assessing complex problems and determining effective solutions.
  • Acting as the engineer of record for on-site instrumentation design.
  • Collaborating with project teams to ensure comprehensive scope development.
  • Ensuring adherence to company and regulatory standards throughout project execution.
Educational Background:

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required, with a preference for candidates holding a Professional Engineering License.

Experience:

A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in detailed engineering and design within PSM-regulated petrochemical or refining environments is preferred.

Technical Proficiencies:

Expertise in instrumentation design, including flow calculations, valve sizing, and control applications, using industry-standard design tools. Familiarity with national codes and standards, distributed control systems, and safety instrumented systems is essential.
