As a Surveyor Technician at Bechtel Corporation, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and precision of survey data. Your primary responsibility will be to supervise and train Surveyor Assistants, working outdoors in various weather conditions to collect and record survey data.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and train Surveyor Assistants to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
Work at elevation on structures, collecting survey data and performing layouts in accordance with Bechtel Surveying Procedures.
Mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying marks, ensuring accurate and precise data collection.
Carry and set stakes, clearing brush from survey lines as needed.
Stake and grade for excavation, working closely with Field Engineers and Supervisors to ensure accurate and efficient execution of tasks.
Operate survey instruments, obtaining data pertaining to angles, elevations, points, and contours, and compiling notes, sketches, and records of data obtained and work performed.
Communicate effectively with Field Engineers and Supervisors, working under time constraints and adapting to changing conditions as needed.
Assist in establishing horizontal and vertical control for the project, reviewing design drawings for correct data and checking calculations.
Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies, performing minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment as required.
Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation, adhering to safety procedures at all times.
Requirements
Ability to work at elevation on structures and in various weather conditions.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with Field Engineers and Supervisors.
Proficiency in operating survey instruments and collecting and recording survey data accurately and precisely.
Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work under time constraints, with a strong focus on safety procedures and protocols.
High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in surveying, engineering, or a related field preferred.
Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles as required.
