Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cook Assistant to join our team at the Multnomah Education Service District. As a key member of our outdoor school program, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our students by providing exceptional food service and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Cook in meal preparation, including baking, making salads, and preparing vegetable displays.
  • Prepare serving areas for each meal and snacks for students and adults.
  • Place food into serving dishes, fill condiment containers, and clean counters and coffee areas after meals.
  • Unload and stack deliveries, prepare boxes for student cook-outs, and fill flour and sugar bins as needed.
  • Serve meals to the site population and wash dishes as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with others using verbal and non-verbal interactions.
Requirements
  • Ability to relate to children and adolescents in a friendly and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handlers Card and complete online SafeSchools training prior to the first day on the job.
  • Knowledge of proper kitchen hygiene and attire.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

This position is subject to board policies, administrative rules and procedures, department regulations, and applicable State and Federal statutes. This position carries no administrative authority or responsibility.
