Claims Assistant

Job Summary:The Sr. Claims Assistant will provide general administrative support to a team of claim adjusters and managers under minimal supervision. This role requires following established procedures and legal requirements, effectively and accurately maintaining data, handling correspondence, and other administrative tasks. The successful candidate will resolve identified issues and problems, and perform tasks that are location-specific, requiring local expertise and handling.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as a resource to others in resolving complex administration problems and issues.
- Responsible for troubleshooting, acting on escalated issues, and processing complex transactions.
- Compile claim files and other documents, including subpoenas, demand packages, and policy coverage confirmations.
- Provide resolution for image documentation errors.
- Manage, organize, and route incoming/outgoing mail and faxes, including monitoring printers and fax machines, and ensuring all correspondence is scanned as appropriate.
- Monitor office equipment, including postage machines, copy machines, paper fill, fax, and alert vendors of any issues.
- Maintain electronic and hard copy files as required, including file purging and local office retention.
- Process transactional items, such as mailing correspondence and preparing invoices.
- Perform data entry and run reports as needed.
- Order supplies for the department and manage office expenses (Staples) invoices.
- Manage special projects as assigned.
- May act as backup support for other departments, LOBs, and hubs.
- Assist with on/off boarding for employees in HUB.
- Provide support for event and meeting planning.
- High school diploma required.
- 2-5 years of general office experience required.
- Proficient computer skills (MS Office, website navigation) required.
- Basic math skills.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Customer service oriented.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize.
- Able to problem-solve.
- Ability to mentor and develop others.
The Sr. Claims Assistant will work in a fast-paced, changing, or stressful environment, and will be required to use a personal computer and other standard office equipment. The ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time is also required.
