Position Summary
The role involves supporting patient appointments by accurately recording details in the electronic health record and performing various clinical tasks under the guidance of a Physician or other healthcare provider.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients in a professional and friendly manner, guiding them to the examination room.
- Gather initial patient data, including vital signs, as instructed.
- Efficiently document patient visits in the electronic health record system.
- Input prescriptions, laboratory requests, or test orders into the electronic health record as directed.
- Assist with examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures as needed.
- Process specimens according to office protocols.
- Prepare, sanitize, and maintain examination rooms and laboratory areas in accordance with office procedures.
- Ensure all instruments and equipment are cleaned, functioning properly, and organized for the physician's use.
- Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned.
Opportunities for Professional Development
Certifications Required
- CPR Certification – to be obtained within 6 months of employment; must maintain certification throughout tenure.
- Clinical Licensure (CCMA, CMA, RMA, or LPN) is required.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
Experience
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical office with electronic charting or a similar role is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong abilities in patient relations, quality assurance, accuracy, productivity, critical thinking, and teamwork are essential.
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to navigate electronic medical records and other relevant software.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Excellent organizational skills are necessary.
- Ability to convey complex information in a clear and understandable manner.
- Demonstrated willingness to support and collaborate with colleagues.
