Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Research Nurse to join our team at Johns Hopkins University. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing clinical trials within our Developmental Therapeutics Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Collaborate with the research team to develop and implement project plans, ensuring timely completion of clinical trials.
  • Pre-study: Anticipate research requirements for designated patient populations, develop and write protocols and consent forms, and prepare regulatory documents.
  • Recruitment and Enrollment: Ensure initial and ongoing eligibility of all subjects for assigned research studies, develop recruitment strategies to ensure patient accrual within protocol timeframes.
  • Data Collection and Document Maintenance: Ensure collection of pertinent data from internal and external sources, monitor compliance with requirements of assigned clinical trials, and apply pharmacological knowledge to assist the investigator in determining adverse event causality.
  • Quality Assurance: Evaluate outcomes of clinical trials, monitor study team compliance with required study procedures and GCP standards, and participate in sponsor/cooperative group/internal audits/monitoring.
  • Education: Provide initial and ongoing education to patients and families regarding pertinent clinical trial and clinical management issues, participate in the orientation process for new Clinical Research Nurses and Clinical Associates, and coordinate and/or present continuing education/in-service programs for clinical team/outpatient treatment nurses and/or phlebotomy staff as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related discipline.
  • Minimum of two year's experience in the specialty or a related area.
  • Master's Degree strongly preferred.
Working Conditions

Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, radiation, and pharmacologic agents. Safety regulations must be followed. Work schedules are determined by protocol activity and may demand flexible and/or extended work hours.
