Senior Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Research Scientist specializing in microbiology, with a focus on bacterial culturing and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in biological sciences, a minimum of 10 years of lab experience, and extensive experience in a startup R&D environment.
- Lead advanced research projects related to microbial behavior, growth optimization, and bacterial culture techniques.
- Conduct specialized laboratory procedures and experiments, utilizing problem-solving skills to modify when needed.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are calibrated and functioning properly.
- Act as a mentor and leader to other R&D team members.
- Design and lead research projects focused on bacterial culturing, including isolation, identification, and characterization of bacterial strains.
- Develop, optimize, and scale up bacterial culture methods to advance our technology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate findings into broader research initiatives.
- Ensure the maintenance of high-quality culture collections and databases of bacterial strains.
- Prepare, store, and dispose of laboratory samples in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain an organized inventory of laboratory supplies, placing orders as needed.
- Ensure all samples are properly labeled and stored for easy retrieval and analysis.
Education: Advanced degree in biological sciences.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of work experience in a laboratory setting, including industry experience and experience in a startup R&D lab.
Technical Skills: Experience with bacterial culturing and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) is a must.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
Self-Starter: Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with the ability to take initiative in the lab utilizing problem-solving skills.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Time Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Competitive salary starting at $85,000+ and will be based on experience level.
