Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Nurse to join our team at Johns Hopkins University. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing clinical trials within the Developmental Therapeutics Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Anticipate research requirements for designated patient populations, collaborate in the development and writing of protocols and consent forms, and apply knowledge of study design to evaluate new protocols.
  • Pre-initiation: Collaborate in the determination of roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members, design appropriate methods for collecting data, and oversee the development of study tools.
  • Recruitment and Enrollment: Ensure initial and ongoing eligibility of all subjects, collaborate in the development of recruitment strategies, and communicate with protocol sponsors and NCI.
  • Data Collection and Document Maintenance: Ensure collection of pertinent data, monitor compliance with requirements, and apply pharmacological knowledge to assist in determining adverse event causality.
  • Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care planned, administered, or delegated, and propose alternative methods to meet individual patient needs.
  • Communication: Independently and collaboratively perform responsibilities, communicate with study coordinators, and represent the department at research and protocol initiation meetings.
  • Education: Provide initial and ongoing education to patients and families, participate in the orientation process for new Clinical Research Nurses, and coordinate and/or present continuing education programs.
  • Community: Collaborate with other members of the research team in preparing study results for presentation/publication, and identify nursing research questions related to protocol populations/issues.
  • Clinical Practice: Plan long-term study patient care, coordinate and facilitate protocol requirements, and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care planned.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland or state where practicing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related discipline.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in the specialty or a related area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree strongly preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, radiation, and pharmacologic agents.
  • Safety regulations must be followed.
  • Work schedules are determined by protocol activity and may demand flexible and/or extended work hours.
