Job Summary
The Physician Assistant will be a valued member of the General Surgical team at Steward Health Care, working closely with surgeons, Physician Assistants, and Surgical Residents to provide high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will function under the direction and supervision of a physician, performing a range of tasks to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed histories and physical exams to inform patient care
- Review patient medical records and order relevant laboratory and diagnostic studies
- Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds to discuss patient progress and plan care
- Record accurate and detailed daily progress notes
- Provide patients and families with pre-operative and post-operative education and support
- Arrange for hospital admission and discharge as directed by the supervising physician
- Perform or assist in a range of surgical procedures, including incision and drainage, central line placement, and phlebotomy
Requirements
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Massachusetts license to practice as a Physician Assistant
- DEA / Massachusetts Control Substance Licensure
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- One year experience in a surgical program preferred
