Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant to join our Radiation Oncology team at Inspire Healthcare. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality cancer treatment services.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients in both office and in-patient hospital settings for Radiation Oncology practices.
  • Provide patient care management, including reviewing history, performing physical assessments, formulating care plans, and follow-up.
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, and perform routine diagnostic studies.
  • Present and discuss findings with attending physicians to determine treatment plans, and document treatment plans and write appropriate orders.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and present patient diagnostic outcomes to attending physicians, and collaborate on course of treatment.
  • Assist physicians with patient consults, simulations, treatment planning, on-treatment evaluations, and follow-ups.
  • Oversee the entire clinical experience to ensure coordination and consolidation of patient care plans and execution of those plans.
  • Facilitate communication with other departments to ensure delivery of excellent, cost-effective, and efficient patient care.
  • Transcribe consult, follow-up, and on-treatment-visit documentation and orders, including prescription medication, fluid orders, diets, activity levels, and other procedures.
  • Manage patient weekly on-treatment-visits in coordination with physicians, nurses, and clinic schedules.
  • Maintain and coordinate concurrent chemotherapy patients with medical oncology, and notify appropriate personnel.
  • Write orders on patients admitted to the hospital, including medication, labs, diagnostic and therapeutic tests, and nursing activities.
  • Conduct weekly on-treatment-visits on patients receiving radiation therapy, document side effects, and order appropriate medications and tests.
  • Consult with physicians regarding care of patients with complex diagnoses.
  • Perform image fusion, organ contouring, and treatment plan evaluation under physician supervision and radiation physics guidance.
  • Educate patients and families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments.
  • Record and maintain legible, accurate, and confidential patient medical records.
  • Conduct inpatient consults and facilitate patient treatment within the hospital and radiation oncology.
  • Ensure treatment and consultations consistent with NCQA, TJC, and federal and state regulatory standards.
  • Attend weekly chart rounds.
  • Ensure professional growth and development through participation in educational programs and workshops.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Conform to hospital standards of performance and conduct.
  • Adhere to RESPECT behavioral standards and hospital cultural beliefs.
  • Follow established hospital infection control and safety procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a Physician Assistant Program approved by the American Medical Association.
  • Licensed as a Physician Assistant in Massachusetts.
  • Certificate issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) may be required for certain departments.
  • Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration may be required for prescribing medications.
