Advanced Practice Provider, Surgery-Urology Specialist

Job Summary: As an Advanced Practice Provider in Surgery-Urology at UTMB Health, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in collaboration with the unit physician and under approved protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain medical histories, organize relevant data, perform physical examinations, and suggest laboratory studies to establish or support a diagnosis.
  • Formulate and order therapeutic regimens for treatment of pathologic states or disabling entities.
  • Document histories, physical examinations, and clinical information, ensuring adequate documentation of existing medical conditions.
  • Monitor treatment progress and protocols of patients in chronic care clinical settings.
  • Counsel patients on preventive medicine regimens and review medical records to ensure proper content and appropriateness of medical regimen.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or a graduate level nurse practitioner program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
  • Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas Physician Assistant Board/Texas Medical Board (TPAB/TMB) or Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a nurse practitioner clinical area of specialization by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON).
