Advanced Practice Health Care Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the University of Texas Medical Branch. The successful candidate will provide advanced practice health care services to newborns and their families, working independently to full scope of practice in compliance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage average acuity well and sick newborn nursery patients with minimal supervision and proficiency of documentation
- Admit newborns to the nursery, including stabilization and transition of Level II newborn patients
- Independently manage Delivery Room responsibilities using NRP guidelines and recommendations
- Document services in a timely manner to ensure all services are accurately accounted for and available for review by the interdisciplinary team
Requirements
- Completion of a graduate level (or higher) nurse practitioner program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
- Experience in a Level II or higher nursery
- Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON)
- Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a nurse practitioner clinical area of specialization by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON)
