Automation Systems Engineer (3rd Shift)

Contract Duration: 12 months with potential for extension or direct hire

Work Schedule: Onsite | 3rd shift (11pm - 7:30am) with occasional weekend coverage required

Overtime: Approximately 16 hours per week (1.5x pay for hours over 40 and 2x on Sundays)

Compensation: $65/hour with paid time off and optional benefits during the contract period

Onboarding Requirements: Background check, drug screening, and fit-for-duty physical examination

Position Overview

The primary role of an Automation Systems Engineer involves initiating the design of control systems based on documented sequences of operation. An Automation Systems Engineer is tasked with creating intricate piping and wiring schematics while offering technical assistance across various automation projects.

Experience Requirements
  • Familiarity with Siemens control systems.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting; capable of articulating the methodology, challenges, and resolutions.
  • Experience with Bradley PLCs is advantageous.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Experience with Fanuc Robotics.
  • General understanding of CNC machinery.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design pneumatic piping schematics.
  • Create electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Develop hydraulic piping schematics.
  • Construct electrical control panels.
  • Develop programmable logic controller (PLC) software.
  • Create human-machine interface (HMI) software.
  • Provide testing, troubleshooting, and startup support for control systems.
  • Offer technical assistance for the installation of machinery and equipment.
  • Deliver training and technical support to facility personnel.
  • Travel to various sites as necessary.
Essential Skills
  • Proficient in programmable machine control hardware and software.
  • Experienced with servo drive hardware and software.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Knowledgeable about basic electrical standards.
  • Familiar with fundamental safety regulations.
  • Able to supervise and lead teams.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
  • 8-10 years of relevant professional experience required.
  • If lacking a Bachelor's degree, 10-15 years of pertinent experience is necessary.
