Job Overview

Habitat America, a leading property management company, is seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to join their team in Berlin, Maryland. This is a part-time position that requires a strong background in apartment maintenance and technical skills.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in apartment maintenance, with expertise in appliance repairs, general carpentry, basic plumbing, basic electrical work, drywall, and painting. HVAC and CFC certifications are highly desirable. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for all technical matters related to general apartment maintenance, including technical maintenance tickets, unit turnovers, and after-hours on-call rotations.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual who can work independently and as part of a team. They will be responsible for overseeing work performed by contractors and must have a pleasant and professional demeanor at all times. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are also required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including appliance repairs and general carpentry
  • Assist with unit turnovers and prepare apartments for new residents
  • Respond to maintenance requests and resolve technical issues
  • Oversee work performed by contractors and ensure quality standards are met
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve maintenance goals

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in apartment maintenance
  • Strong technical skills, including appliance repairs and basic electrical work
