Coding Specialist Job Summary

As a Coding Specialist at TriCore Reference Laboratories, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our coding processes. Your primary responsibility will be to assign International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD10-CM) codes and appropriate modifiers to laboratory tests based on supporting documentation from ordering or consulting providers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assign ICD10-CM codes and modifiers to laboratory tests
  • Provide documentation and implementation of operating procedures
  • Ensure timely data entry of corrected coding and notations to patient and client accounts
  • Identify enhancements to overall billing process to meet performance metrics
  • Perform reviews for coding documentation, identification of diagnosis trends, Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) edits, modifiers, payor requirements, system edits, and validation of missing or invalid requisition information
Requirements:
  • Minimum of twelve (12) months as a Coding Specialist Apprentice in Rhodes Group Revenue Operations
  • Minimum of two (2) years' healthcare coding, auditing, and compliance related experience
  • Must hold current Coding Certification from a Nationally Accredited organization (AAPC, AHIMA, NHA, or similar)
  • Medical billing and reimbursement experience required
  • Medical terminology and ICD10 CM, CPT, HCPCS knowledge required
