JOB SUMMARY

Assists the operator and performs essential operator functions as required. Ensures cleanliness and safety standards are upheld in the production area. Completion of all relevant SOP and QA training is mandatory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Key Responsibilities:
  • With guidance from the supervisor, aids in maintaining production quality during the shift.
  • With direction from the supervisor, contributes to achieving shift productivity targets.
  • Accountable for adhering to the production schedule.
  • Responsible for reporting any production challenges to management for proper escalation.
  • Capable of taking detailed notes, addressing issues with management, and escalating employee concerns or requests.
  • Supervises the successful initiation of initial batches as necessary.
  • Receives and acts upon instructions from superiors.
  • Communicates and interacts with all shifts in a professional and constructive manner.
  • Collaborates with other departments (Maintenance, Warehouse, etc.) in a professional and effective manner.
  • Fosters and maintains positive working relationships between shifts.
  • Possesses working knowledge and ability to operate all blenders and equipment, including packaging, milling, and cleaning equipment.
  • Required to become a technical expert in all manufacturing processes, safety, and quality to train employees and make necessary observations/corrections.
  • Conducts audits of equipment cleaning and usage logs.
  • Accurately reviews completed batch records and implements necessary corrections.
  • Suggests modifications to batch records to minimize errors and enhance efficiency.
  • Completes work orders as needed and documents equipment issues that could not be resolved.
  • Fills out worker-related accident forms.
  • Assists in investigations of workplace accidents as required.
  • Records suggestions for productivity enhancements and shares them with management as appropriate.
  • Thorough understanding of departmental paperwork, including but not limited to:
    • Ensuring the correct batch record is utilized.
    • Properly documenting information on batch records.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Training:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience Required:
  • At least four years of successful experience as a machine operator in a comparable manufacturing setting.
  • Forklift certification is mandatory.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to interpret bar graphs.
  • Proficient in personal computer applications including email, record keeping, routine database tasks, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics.
  • Exhibits established work habits that serve as a model for the workforce.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional record-keeping skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work while wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including a respirator.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 55 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to handle items, work with fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
  • Involves strenuous physical activity, primarily labor-intensive in nature.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
  • May encounter moderate noise levels (e.g., office equipment, light traffic).
  • May experience moderate to high noise levels (e.g., production equipment, forklifts, heavy traffic).
  • Potential exposure to humidity, extreme temperatures, outdoor weather conditions, and fumes or hazardous chemicals.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) may be required.
