Company Overview:
Hoopaugh Grading Company, LLC ("HGC") is in search of a dedicated and proficient Lead Surveying Technician. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in land and construction surveying, demonstrating a strong commitment to leadership and teamwork across various surveying initiatives. This role emphasizes Accuracy, Precision, and Leadership at all levels, operating under the guidance of a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) and under the oversight of Survey Managers.


Key Responsibilities:
As a Lead Surveying Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Setting out various utilities and fulfilling requests on construction sites.
  • Conducting Topographic surveys.
  • Executing mathematical computations, including field verification and data analysis.
  • Maintaining clear and precise documentation and performing note reduction.
  • Interpreting and understanding plans and specifications.
  • Ensuring quality control and performance standards for all tasks.
  • Overseeing the upkeep of all company equipment and vehicles.
  • Identifying basic sources of measurement inaccuracies.
  • Participating in training sessions at HGC Academy.
  • Applying HGC's Core Values in daily operations.
  • Comprehending, interpreting, and adhering to directives from survey managers.
  • Communicating professionally with all personnel on site, including supervisors, colleagues, contractors, clients, and vendor partners.
  • Maintaining regular attendance and being available for overtime as required by operational needs.

Additional Duties:
Perform other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction surveying.
  • Familiarity with GPS technology and electronic data collection tools.
  • Knowledge of fundamental sources of measurement errors.
  • Understanding of monumentation, staking, and marking principles.
  • Self-motivation and organizational skills with sound decision-making abilities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions.
  • A willingness to grow personally and professionally.
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • A clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • A strong desire to learn and develop.
  • The ability to grasp project objectives and directions.
  • A willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening, fit-for-duty physical, and background check.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, with potential Saturday shifts as needed.

Physical Demands:
The role requires:

  • Ability to navigate varied terrain.
  • Capability to lift 40 lbs. unassisted and up to 80 lbs. with assistance regularly.
  • Capacity to handle construction materials, tools, and supplies.
  • Performance of job duties outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Maintaining alertness and situational awareness on job sites.
  • Safe climbing on and off equipment while maintaining three points of contact.
  • Repetitive lifting and carrying of materials.
  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, bend, crouch, lift, and crawl as necessary.
  • Effective communication in environments with varying noise levels and dust.
