JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Under close supervision, with some freedom for planning and organizing work details, the candidate must be capable of performing complex construction and maintenance tasks on both de-energized and energized transmission and distribution systems, including underground and overhead lines, structures, and equipment. The following qualifications are essential:
- Equivalent experience in related fields, holding all necessary qualifications of a Lineman 2nd Class.
- Proficient in transformer installations; capable of phasing and verifying circuit rotation; able to trace and resolve grounds and interruptions on series circuits.
- Competent in all types of hot line tool operations.
- Skilled in rigging and using reeve blocks.
- Able to plan and execute all tasks safely and efficiently.
- Responsible for managing materials taken from and returned to inventory, along with preparing necessary reports and documentation.
- Authorized to act in a supervisory capacity when required.
- Capable of directing the work of assistants and training new personnel.

EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with the company's safety protocols and ability to administer approved resuscitation methods and provide practical first aid.
- Knowledge of the location and operation of all firefighting equipment, including the appropriate tools for various types of fires.
- Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
- Comprehensive understanding of electric transmission and distribution systems and related equipment, including Switchman certification.
- In-depth knowledge of hot line tools and their applications.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints related to transmission and distribution work.
- Proficient in using technology necessary for job performance, including computers, tablets, and relevant software.
- Capable of accurately identifying and documenting all modifications to constructed projects in accordance with company standards.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have full mental and physical capabilities.
- Adequate strength and endurance for demanding labor in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Good hand-eye coordination and physical dexterity are essential.

Essential Functions of the Lineman Position:

  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain, including wet, muddy, and slippery surfaces, while carrying tools weighing up to fifty pounds.
  • Capacity to work in extreme weather conditions, including high heat and cold.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Capability to work independently during restoration tasks.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as digging, pulling, pushing, carrying, and lifting loads up to 115 pounds.
  • Must maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • Proficient in safely operating trucks and heavy machinery while working around energized lines and equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights for extended periods.
  • Must be able to perform tasks overhead from a bucket truck.
  • Ability to climb and descend from wooden or steel structures, poles, and ladders while maintaining balance and performing various physical movements.
  • Capability to execute emergency rescue operations.
  • Sound judgment to work safely in potentially hazardous environments.
  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Willingness to work up to 16 continuous hours per day.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Basic computer skills for task management and communication.
  • Effective communication skills for team interaction.
  • Ability to manage stress and navigate tense situations.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
