- Our unit welcomes first-time travelers with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Common Patient Conditions: Chest pain, Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), arrhythmias, Diabetes Mellitus (DM), exacerbations of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Pneumonia (PNA), Hypertension (HTN), Myocardial Infarction (MI), renal failure, Pulmonary Embolism (PE), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), gastrointestinal bleeding, and syncope. There is always a possibility of medical-surgical overflow.
- Special Procedures and Unit Information: Involves pre/post catheterization lab procedures, pacemaker/AICD management, ablations, and vascular surgeries. Responsibilities include titration of intravenous drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, and Heparin, as well as sheath removal at the bedside.
- Equipment Utilized: Telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, patient-controlled analgesia (PCA), epidurals, and wound vacs.
- Essential Certifications and Skills: BLS, telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, on-unit monitoring, CABG, chest tube management, post-angiogram care, myocardial infarction protocols, cardiac catheterization, and sheath removal, port accessing, blood product administration, central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management, IV initiation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, isolation precautions, and wound care/management.
- Every other holiday commitment required.
- Flexibility to be assigned to various inpatient units as needed.
- Specific scheduling requests cannot be guaranteed.
- Our unit is supportive of first-time travelers with requisite experience.
- Patient diagnoses encompass a diverse range of conditions including CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, and myocardial infarction.
- Special procedures include pre/post catheterization lab tasks and bedside sheath removal.
